Mahatma Gandhi launched the Salt Satyagraha from the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad against the British decision to tax salt. Gandhiji organized this Dandi March to break the salt law of the British.

Under this, a 24-day-long journey was made to Dandi, a village situated on the seashore. After reaching here, thousands of people broke the salt law under the leadership of Gandhiji. It was a non-violent movement and Pad Yatra. Dandi Yatra is given a lot of importance in the history of independence of the country.
